Zingerman’s Deli
Serving Ann Arbor since 1982
Part of the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses (ZCoB)
In 1982 founders Ari Weinzweig and Paul Saginaw opened their traditional Jewish deli, Zingerman’s, on the corner of Kingsley and Detroit in the historical Kerrytown section of Ann Arbor. This would be the first business of many that now makes up one of the most successful and innovative companies in Michigan, Zingerman’s Community of Businesses. In the past 32 years the acclaim that has been piled on Zingerman’s is almost as high as the corned beef that you will see on one of their famous sandwiches.
Allstar Alarm has been fortunate to work with many of the companies and facilities that make up the ZCoB.
Allstar helped secure the additions that were made to the deli under the watchful eyes of Managing Partner Grace Singleton and Nancy Rucker. Their build-out was awarded the Gold certificate level for LEED Green Building Association ratings. Using the LEED points system they were able to identify and implement practical and measurable green design features. This works towards their steps to fullfilling the sustainability pledge in the 2020 vision for the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses. As they state, green building design is just design that makes sense.
Managing Partner Grace Singleton said the following on working with Allstar Alarm:
“So we basically doubled our square foot, and did an addition to our existing building, which is never very easy. Allstar Alarm did a great job, they knew our building already, which is a benefit, because they knew all the weird passages you have to make in a historical building….They came in and took care of things and made sure we were up and running when we needed to. We had a crazy time-line because we had to go into three different phases of construction. Allstar was great and that they would come in and do the parts that we needed when we needed them because it was such a tight turn around. …. It was a pleasure to work with them, they are local and having someone so just down the street that can help you out makes a big difference”
